| In
September 2001, Paul became Assistant Organist of Bristol Cathedral.
He accompanies the Cathedral Choir, gives regular recitals, and
directs the Cathedral Consort and the Cathedral Chamber Choir, who
have expanded their role in the life of the Cathedral, notably with
their Good Friday concerts and Christmas performances of Messiah,
with the Bristol Ensemble. In May 2007, Paul performed the Finale
from the Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony in a Gala Concert at Symphony
Hall, Birmingham, with the winners of the European Brass Band Championships.
In summer 2007, Paul was the organist for the St. Endellion Festival,
directed by Richard Hickox. In October 2007, he directed the RSCM
Gloucestershire course in Cirencester and Gloucester.
In
October 2008, Paul was invited to give a Messiæn recital
in Bristol University Great Hall, as part of a series celebrating
the 100th anniversary of the composers birth. He has been
the accompanist for the Cathedral Choirs tours of Bordeaux
(October 2008), and Hannover (April 2010). Not only are the organs
of the latter still intact (slightly surprisingly) but, after
a lunchtime recital at the Marktkirche, Paul has been invited
back for an evening recital in the Saturday series next year.
Also in April, Paul took part in a Gala Concert This is
the Night in the first Cirencester Parish Church Organ Festival,
where he appeared as choir accompanist, organ soloist, and conductor
of a full church singing Land of Hope and Glory! From June 2010-11,
Paul was President of the Bristol and District Organists
Association. This year, Paul has returned to the Cirencester Parish
Church Organ Festival, and recital venues include Tewkesbury Abbey
and St. Pauls Cathedral.
